G1G insurance (Sorted Chale Recommended)
Travelers entering South Africa are no longer required to produce vaccination certificates or recent negative PCR tests.
For travelers joining our trips from many countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and much of Europe, yellow fever vaccination is generally not required for entry into South Africa. Yellow fever is only required when travelers are arriving from or have recently traveled through a high-risk yellow fever country. Since the US, UK, Canada, and much of Europe are not classified as high-risk yellow fever zones, this requirement would typically not apply.
Guests should still check with their healthcare provider for any recommended routine travel vaccinations or personal health precautions before departure.
We also recommend you take Malaria medicines before arrival to South Africa. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist as to which tablets to take.
South Africa is known for its high crime rates. However, most of these crimes mostly affect locals but tourists are not exempted completely. It is important to be extra cautious while in South Africa, with your belongings and especially when you take on the city on your own.
The Sorted Chale team will ensure that all necessary security measures are put in place to ensure your safety. This will be done through guided tours with our local team in South Africa, as well as having private transportation for your daily activities.
You’ll be able to exchange dollars for Rand at the hotel – usually better rates are offered for larger bills. Only newly issued USD are accepted. Yet, your best bet for a good rate may be cash withdrawal from ATMs. You can freely use a Visa, MasterCard, American Express in upmarket joints in Sourh Africa. Research the fees you may need to pay for using your credit card, as they can mount up. Use that opportunity to notify your bank of your travel plans, so they don’t cut you off for fear of fraud.
Bargaining and tipping are both expected. Outside of more formal establishments and supermarkets, you’ll often be offered goods for a price 30-50% higher than the seller actually expects to earn. So feel free to work on driving prices down, though within reason and good taste. For services rendered well, such as excellent service at a restaurant or hotel, tips are encouraged.
Sleeping arrangements will be double occupancy. For double occupancy selection you will be paired with someone else and depending on your request this could be a twin bed or double bed (which means you and your room buddy will share the same bed). As part of this experience we typically take care of all room pairings.
Our payment provider paystack accepts debit and credit cards from all over the world, given that they are issued by MasterCard, Visa and Verve
If available Roommate Matching will be offered. If you want to be matched, please select “Yes I want to be matched with a room buddy” on the reservation form. Also, please note roommate matching does not take place until after 75% of the cost of the package is paid.
