Overview

This 8-day Ghana experience is designed around a balanced flow of culture, heritage, nature, leisure, and celebration. Guests arrive in Accra and ease into the journey before exploring the city’s most meaningful landmarks, including the Black Star Gate, Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, and a lively drumming and dancing experience at the Accra Arts Centre.

The journey then deepens with a powerful Road to Heritage day featuring Elmina Castle, the Assin Manso River Site, and a memorable traditional naming ceremony. After this reflective experience, guests have time to unwind with a self-guided beach day before heading into the serene Aburi Hills for the Aburi Botanical Gardens and Asenema Waterfalls.

The itinerary also leaves room for flexibility, with a leisure day that can be enhanced by the optional Makola Market Experience, followed by a free day set aside for the group’s birthday celebration. With a thoughtful mix of planned excursions and personal downtime, this itinerary offers a well-paced Ghana getaway that feels meaningful, refreshing, and celebratory from start to finish.

Daily Activities

Day 1 : 8th November
Akwaaba
Welcome to Ghana! Guests arrive in Accra and settle in at their own pace. Upon arrival, guest have time at leisure to rest and recover from travel. Guests are invited to a Welcome Reception hosted by Hnede. Details to follow. Airport transfer to Alora Hotel will be arranged upon arrival. Please forward your flight itinerary once booked.
Day 2 : 9th November
Accra City Tour: For the Culture, History, and Rhythm
The journey begins with an immersive introduction to Ghana’s capital city. Guests will explore some of Accra’s most iconic landmarks, including the Black Star Gate and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, where Ghana’s independence story comes to life. The day continues at the Accra Arts Centre with a lively cultural experience featuring traditional drumming and dancing, offering guests a joyful taste of Ghanaian rhythm, creativity, and community spirit. Lunch included.
Day 3 : 10th November
Road to Heritage: Elmina Castle, Assin Manso & Naming Ceremony
This powerful day invites guests into Ghana’s deep historical and ancestral story. The group will journey to the Central Region for a visit to Elmina Castle, one of the most significant historic sites connected to the transatlantic slave trade. The experience continues at the Assin Manso River Site, a sacred place of remembrance and reflection. Guests will then take part in a meaningful traditional naming ceremony, creating a deeply personal and emotional connection to Ghanaian heritage. Lunch included.
Day 4 : 11th November
Hnede turns 40!
After a rich heritage-filled day enjoy a relaxing and leisure day at Laboma Beach and the Alora Hotel. Celebrate with Hnede as she rings in a New Year poolside.
Day 5 : 12th November
Aburi Hills Experience: Gardens, Waterfalls & Nature
Guests will escape the city and head into the lush hills of the Eastern Region for a refreshing day surrounded by nature. The first stop is the serene Aburi Botanical Gardens, known for its peaceful atmosphere, towering trees, and beautiful landscape. The adventure continues with a visit to Asenema Waterfalls, where guests can enjoy the calming scenery and embrace one of Ghana’s scenic natural gems. Lunch Included.
Day 6 : 13th November
Leisure Day with Optional Makola Market Experience
Guests can explore Ghana on own. Take a walk through Osu or have a coffee near the lighthouse before you do a bit of shopping in Accra. Optional Add-ons available including a guided tour through Makola Market, Accra’s most vibrant trading hubs, filled with colorful fabrics, fresh produce, handmade goods, and the energy of local commerce. It is a lively, authentic, and sensory-rich way to experience the heartbeat of the city. The Makola Market Experience is available based on a minimum of 5 travelers.
Day 7 : 14th November
Hnede’s 40th Birthday Celebration with Family and Friends
Enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure before you put on your dancing shoes and celebrate with Hnede as she embarks on Chapter 40.
Day 8 : 15th November
Farewell Brunch
Drs. George and Felicia Lamptey welcome you to their home for a farewell brunch ahead of travels back home. Additional details to follow.
